Congratulations!

Today is customer appreciation day at Suter's. If your picture is in this place, you are the customer of the day!

Meet Bert. Maybe you already have. Bert is the very first Suter's Auto Service customer, a customer long before Suter's even existed.

How you ask?

Bert owned a Volvo that he used to have serviced at one of the earliest Volvo dealerships established in Canada, Yonge and Steeles Motors. Bert has an astoundingly clear memory and could likely recall anything you wanted to know about any of the details of his experience at that dealership. Of significance though, Bert would take his car to Yonge and Steeles Motors, put his keys on the counter, and request that a mechanic (now we call them "technicians"), named Jim Suter work on his car. That was 1972.
Bert appreciated all of the efforts that Jim put into keeping his Volvo on the road in the 1970's. When Jim announced his resignation from the dealership to develop his own independent service facility, Bert became the first patron of Suter's Auto.
On Friday of last week, Bert brought in the keys for his car, a 1981 Volvo 245GL, set them on the counter, and asked me to fix the rattle in the back of his car. As I worked on his car, listening to him work on entertaining  Amy, (and various customers), I had a real WOW moment. Dad has retired, this is 35 years later, and Bert's car is my responsibility. Wow...

  1. Im pleased to see Burt make our first Customer appreciation day. Since he is the longest customer that we know of. He will tell us all stories on how he found Jim and followed him around York Region area until Suters came to rest here at 31 Industry St.
One of many reasons I like working at Suters, customers become part of the Family here. From story sharing whether be about boats, motorcycles, kids or cars, to watching how families grow and watching the generations come through the door. Parents, child and now grandkids.

  2. Its nice to see Bert as the first customer appreciation person as he was the first customer. The amazing part Bert hasen't changed a bit.
